New study shows Dyson hand dryer reduces bacteria on hands– 6-Jul-2009
New research carried out in France in the past few months has shown the Dyson Airblade hand dryer reduces the amount of bacteria on hands after drying. An independent French test lab, Institut de Recherche Microbiologique (IRM) that specialises in the study of antimicrobial agents, measured the amount of bacteria before and after drying hands for 10 seconds in the Airblade. The findings revealed that the hand dryer reduces contamination by 89.5%, says the company.

Dyson has criticised a recent study that looked at the merits of paper tissues against hand dryers, and specifically Dyson’s Airblade hand dryer, claiming the study is based on “poor science” and uses “poor methodology”.
Study suggests electric hand dryers pose health risk– 20-Feb-2009
Scientists at the University of Westminster have found that electric hand dryers can dramatically increase the number of bacteria on people’s hands after washing them and contaminate the washrooms where they are installed. As a result they would not recommend that electric hand dryers are installed in locations where hygiene is of paramount importance.
