John Mitchell gains promotion

Particle Measuring Systems, a division of US-based instrumentation and control specialist Spectris, has appointed John Mitchell as president, succeeding Paul Kelly who has led the company for the past 15 years.

Mitchell joined PMS in 1995 as a research scientist, moving up to applications manager, vp of marketing, vp of engineering and most recently, vp of the electronics division.

Kelly has decided to leave corporate life and will join Teach for America as a maths teacher. During Kelly’s tenure as president of Particle Measuring Systems, the company expanded globally with direct operations in China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Scandinavia, and diversified its customer base, producing organic growth from life science industries approximately equivalent to electronics related industries. As a result, PMS achieved record sales in 2010.

Acquired by Spectris in 1996, Particle Measuring Systems is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, US, and is a leader in contamination and environmental monitoring.
