Priorclave, a UK manufacturer of laboratory autoclaves, says the addition of stand-off legs for its benchtop autoclaves brings significant advantages to CAT 3 application areas by providing easier access underneath for cleaning and disinfection. Another benefit is the Biocote antimicrobial surface protection.
The first range with the option of stand-off legs is the Compact C40 vacuum autoclave, a wide-format unit with a 40l, front-loading chamber and pre-vacuum and post-vacuum cycles. The combination of the two vacuum phases makes the C40 steam steriliser suitable for laboratory waste, glassware and instruments, as well as porous or wrapped goods.
The pre-vacuum mode efficiently removes ambient air from the chamber and load, allowing steam to penetrate the product while the post-vacuum cycle pulls steam and condensate out of the autoclave during this drying phase. The longer the vacuum runs the cooler the dryer the load.
Priorclave says the overall benefit is a faster cycle time, making the C40 suitable for applications where a higher daily throughput is required or where delays in sterilisation are of concern.
