The KHD 1000 tests gloves for leaks before installation in the sterile area

Bosch Packaging Technology’s KHD 1000 tests gloves for leaks using a validatable method before installation in the sterile area. By eliminating the need to deploy testing equipment in the sterile area, offline testing simplifies the production process and significantly contributes to increased product quality and safety, particularly in the case of barrier systems such as RABS, the company says.

Offline testing also allows glove testing to be performed before production for increased machine availability and a more efficient production cycle.

Testing gloves away from the filling area also means that only gloves without flaws are introduced into the production area so no additional testing is required at the barrier system.

The KHD 1000’s GloveFIT testing process relies on a gentle stabilisation phase prior to the start of the test process wherein the glove is repeatedly pressurised over long intervals and thereby prepared for the actual test measurement phase. This stabilisation ensures that each glove starts the test measurement phase in the same defined condition. In the subsequent measurement phase, leaks of greater than 100 micrometers can be detected using a pressure decay test.

Thanks to automated test cycles, the operation of the KHD 1000 is very simple. The integrated power supply and the USB/Ethernet interface allow for easy transfer and continued processing of the completed test results.
